Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your information — including cookies, analytics, and the Android app.

Last updated: August 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what ListenMode collects, how we use it, which partners help us run the service, and the choices you have. It applies to the ListenMode website, the ListenMode Android app, and related ListenMode services.

1. Scope

  • This Privacy Policy applies to the ListenMode website (listenmode.ir), the Android application packaged as ir.listenmode.app, and related ListenMode services (including Studio and supporting APIs).
  • By using ListenMode you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details such as phone number, email, username, and — if you connect it — Google account identifiers when you sign in or create an account.
  • Authentication and sign-in data needed to verify identity (for example hashed passwords, SMS one-time codes, or Google sign-in tokens) and active sessions.
  • Listening activity when signed in, including playback progress, likes, saves, subscriptions/follows, history, download metadata when you use downloads, and comments.
  • Creator content and Studio data you upload or connect (episodes, artwork, show settings, RSS feed URLs).
  • Support messages you send through forms, email, or Telegram.
  • Technical data needed to run the service, such as device or browser/app type, session identifiers, and — when recorded in security or operational logs — IP address and approximate network information.

3. Android app permissions

  • The Android app needs network access to stream audio and sync with ListenMode servers.
  • Background media playback and the notification media controls use a foreground media-playback service and the POST_NOTIFICATIONS permission.
  • The current app build does not request broad storage/media library access or biometric unlock permissions for core listening.
  • These permissions support playback, account sync, and service reliability — not collection of your contacts, precise location, or personal files.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

  • On the website we use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, protect sessions, remember preferences, and understand product usage.
  • Authentication cookies store session tokens so you do not have to sign in on every visit.
  • Security cookies (including CSRF protections) help prevent unauthorized actions on your account.
  • Preference storage may remember theme or lightweight UI choices on your device.
  • You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling authentication cookies will sign you out of protected features.

5. Analytics

  • On the website, when you consent, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregated traffic and product usage (for example, which pages are visited).
  • Google Analytics loads only after you accept analytics on this Privacy Policy page. If you reject analytics, those scripts are not loaded on your browser.
  • Your choice is stored locally on your device (key: listenmode_analytics_consent) as granted or denied, and you can change it anytime from this Privacy Policy page.
  • The current Android app does not load Google Analytics.
  • Google Analytics may set cookies or use similar identifiers as described in Google’s documentation when enabled on the web.
  • We use analytics to improve ListenMode — not to sell your personal information.

6. Advertising

  • ListenMode may display advertising in the future (for example through partners such as Google AdSense) to support the free product.
  • Third-party advertising is not currently enabled as a core product feature. When advertising launches or materially changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and related disclosures.
  • If advertising is enabled, ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies to measure performance or personalize ads where permitted.

7. How we use your information

  • Operate ListenMode, personalize your feed, sync progress across devices, and provide Studio tools for creators.
  • Moderate reports, process removal requests, and keep the community safer.
  • Communicate about accounts, security, and service updates.
  • Measure performance and improve features.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

8. Third-party services

  • Hosting and infrastructure providers that store application data and creator-uploaded media.
  • Podcast Index and similar public directories that supply publicly available podcast metadata for discovery.
  • Email and messaging channels you choose to contact us through.
  • Google Analytics for website usage measurement (only after consent).
  • CDN and security providers that help deliver the website reliably.
  • These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services to ListenMode.

9. Podcast Index and public content

  • Catalog and discovery features may use publicly available podcast metadata from directories such as Podcast Index and from RSS feeds.
  • Episodes and shows you publish are public unless the product offers a private option.
  • Public metadata on ListenMode does not mean ListenMode owns the underlying podcast audio.

10. Data retention

  • Account and profile data are kept while your account remains active.
  • Listening activity is retained to provide library features and improve the product, and may be deleted or anonymized after account deletion where technically feasible.
  • Support and legal correspondence may be retained as needed to resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.
  • Backups and security logs may retain limited copies for a short operational period after deletion.
  • Creator-published content remains until you remove it or we remove it under our policies.

11. Account deletion

  • If you are signed in, you can start account deletion from Settings on the website or in the Android app. You must re-authenticate (password, SMS code, or Google) and confirm with the required confirmation phrase.
  • After you submit a request, a cancellation grace period applies (default about 30 days, configurable in the system). During that period you can cancel deletion by verifying your identity again.
  • After the grace period ends, your profile, library, likes, follows, history, and listening progress are permanently removed, and web and mobile sessions end.
  • If you still own Studio podcasts, current policy requires you to delete that content first; otherwise deletion may be blocked.
  • Published comments may be anonymized; episode listen aggregates may be kept without your identity.
  • Limited security, legal, or operational records may remain for a restricted period where required.
  • After hard deletion, signing up again with the same email, phone, or Google account creates a new empty account.

12. Data security

  • We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls.
  • No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please use a strong password and protect your devices.

13. Your rights

  • You may delete your account from Settings, or contact support to request access to or correction of your personal data.
  • You can stop using the service at any time and sign out on your devices.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us and we will help where we reasonably can.

14. International users

  • ListenMode is operated with primary infrastructure and contacts associated with listenmode.ir.
  • If you access ListenMode from another country, your information may be processed in locations where we or our providers operate.
  • By using ListenMode, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations subject to this Policy and applicable law.

15. Children's privacy

  • ListenMode is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
  • If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

16. Changes to this policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do.
  • Continued use of ListenMode after an update means you accept the revised policy, except where local law requires additional consent.
